BOIL WATER ADVISORY

To: All Drinking Water Customers of Carmel Utilities WEST OF COLLEGE AVENUE (Please view map below for affected area)

Effective: 08/11/2025

Subject: Boil Water Notice Due to Loss of Pressure in the Drinking Water System

Carmel Utilities is issuing a Boil Water Advisory for all customers in the affected area following a loss of pressure in the drinking water system. This occurred due to a fire hydrant that was unexpectedly blown off the water line, which may have caused potential contamination of the water supply.

What this means: A drop in water pressure can allow contaminants to enter the water system. As a precaution, we advise all customers to boil water before consuming it until further notice.

Instructions:

Please bring all water to a rolling boil for at least one (1) full minute, and let it cool before using it for:

• Drinking

• Cooking or food preparation

• Brushing teeth

• Making ice

• Washing fruits and vegetables

Do not use ice from automatic ice makers or drinking fountains until the system has been flushed and tested. We are actively working to repair the system and restore normal water pressure. Once pressure is restored, water samples will be collected and tested to ensure safety.

This advisory will remain in effect until we confirm through lab testing that the water is safe to drink. We will notify you as soon as the boil water advisory is lifted.
