Protect Your Pipes!
-Prevent your home’s water lines from freezing during the winter. Open kitchen and cabinet doors, especially those with plumbing on exterior walls, so that warmer indoor air can reach the pipes.
-When temperatures are expected to drop significantly below freezing (especially below 20 degrees for several hours), let a faucet served by vulnerable pipes drip a slow trickle of cold water. Moving water is less likely to freeze and a drip also helps relieve pressure in the lines if ice does form.
