The City of Carmel Utilities Wastewater Treatment Plant (CUWTP) was recently the recipient of TWO awards, presented by the Indiana Water Environment Association (IWEA) at its annual conference in August. The 2022 IWEA Laboratory Excellence Award was given to the CUWTP Lab for demonstrating a high level of commitment to Best Laboratory Practices and accurate data reporting. The Lab scored above established minimum levels of the required on-site audit by members of the IWEA Laboratory Committee, examining laboratory records and equipment. This is the 21st consecutive year the CUWTP has received this award. The 2022 IWEA Excellence in Safety Award recognized the CUWTP for grading high in merit points for sustaining a minimum of lost-time accidents. The CUWTP committed to achieving this award by developing a Safety Committee approximately five years ago. The Plant participated in an extensive Safety Audit conducted by members of the IWEA Safety Committee that examined plant facilities, safety procedures and protocols, safety training, safety controls and safety records from May 1, 2021 to May 1, 2022.
