WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT AWARDS

Congratulations to the Carmel Utilities Wastewater Treatment Plant (CUWTP) on receiving FOUR awards at the Indiana Water Environment Association (IWEA) annual conference in August.

The 2023 IWEA Laboratory Excellence Award recognized the CUWTP Lab for demonstrating a high level of commitment to Best Laboratory Practices and accurate data reporting.This is the 22nd consecutive year the CUWTP has received this award.

The 2023 IWEA Excellence in Safety Award was given to the CUWTP for grading high in merit points for sustaining a minimum of lost-time accidents.
The CUWTP developed a Safety Committee five years ago and participated in an extensive Safety Audit conducted by members of the IWEA Safety Committee. This is the second year in a row the CUWTP has achieved this award.

2023 IWEA Biosolids Award honored CUWTP for significant contributions in the development and implementation of cost effective, environmentally safe and publicly acceptable biosolids beneficial use practices. This award was previously received by CUWTP in 2016.

An individual award, the 2023 IWEA Tumble Bug Award was awarded to CUWTP Laboratory Analyst, Rachel Calhoun (in above photo), for dedicated service to the Wastewater industry.

Congratulations to the City of Carmel Cityworks team for their award for Excellence in Enterprise Practice at the Cityworks Innovative Conference in Salt Lake City, UT in December 2022. Since Carmel’s implementation of the software in 2016, the team has helped to fully leverage a suite of Cityworks applications at an enterprise level, expanding across nearly every department.

The City of Carmel Utilities Wastewater Treatment Plant (CUWTP) was recently the recipient of TWO awards, presented by the Indiana Water Environment Association (IWEA) at its annual conference in August. The 2022 IWEA Laboratory Excellence Award was given to the CUWTP Lab for demonstrating a high level of commitment to Best Laboratory Practices and accurate data reporting. The Lab scored above established minimum levels of the required on-site audit by members of the IWEA Laboratory Committee, examining laboratory records and equipment. This is the 21st consecutive year the CUWTP has received this award. The 2022 IWEA Excellence in Safety Award recognized the CUWTP for grading high in merit points for sustaining a minimum of lost-time accidents. The CUWTP committed to achieving this award by developing a Safety Committee approximately five years ago. The Plant participated in an extensive Safety Audit conducted by members of the IWEA Safety Committee that examined plant facilities, safety procedures and protocols, safety training, safety controls and safety records from May 1, 2021 to May 1, 2022.
